Terms of Service
1. Who we are
Lectiva is a tutoring service run by Sol Civico, a sole trader (“Lectiva”, “we”, “us”). You can reach us at lectiva.academy@outlook.com.
2. What we provide
We offer History and Politics tutoring, currently:
• Free Consultation — a no-charge introductory call (held over Zoom).
• 1-1 Tutoring — personalised online sessions of 55 minutes, held on Pencil Spaces.
• Small-group Tutoring — sessions for small groups on the same specification.
• Induction lessons — Discounted session for new students.
We carry out our services with reasonable care and skill, as required by the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Tutoring is academic support: we cannot and do not guarantee any particular grade or exam outcome.
3. Booking, prices and payment
You book and pay through our website. Prices are shown in pounds sterling (£) and include any tax due. Card payments are handled securely by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. A booking is confirmed once payment is received and you receive a confirmation email.
4. Bookings for under-18s
Where the student is under 18, the service must be arranged, booked and paid for by a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on the student’s behalf.
5. Online lessons and recordings
1-1 lessons take place on Pencil Spaces and are recorded; consultations take place on Zoom. The recording is made available to the student (and, for under-18s, the parent or guardian) afterwards. See our Privacy Policy for how recordings are handled, and tell us before a lesson if you do not want it recorded.
6. Changing or cancelling a booking
Rescheduling, cancellations, no-shows and refunds are covered in our Return Policy below, which forms part of these terms.
7. Your conduct and our materials
Please attend on time and treat sessions respectfully. Materials, feedback and recordings we provide are for the student’s own study only — please don’t copy, share, publish or resell them, or record sessions yourself without our agreement.
8. Our responsibility to you
We are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for unforeseeable loss, or for exam results. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud), and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
9. Changes and contact
We may update these terms from time to time; the version in force is the one shown at the time of your booking. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Questions: lectiva.academy@outlook.com.
Return Policy
(Cancellations, rescheduling and refunds. Our services are delivered online, so “returns” mean cancelling or refunding a booking rather than sending anything back.)
Rescheduling and cancelling a session
• 24+ hours’ notice: reschedule or cancel free of charge — just email lectiva.academy@outlook.com.
• Less than 24 hours’ notice, or not attending (“no-show”): the session is charged in full (or, if prepaid, that session is used up). This is because the time has been reserved for you.
Free consultations
There’s no charge, so you can cancel or rebook anytime.
Refunds
Beyond the rights below, refunds are considered case by case at our discretion — for example where a paid service hasn’t yet been delivered, or in genuinely exceptional circumstances. To request one, email lectiva.academy@outlook.com with your booking details and we’ll respond within [5] working days. Approved refunds are returned to your original payment method.
Your legal cancellation right (14-day cooling-off)
Because you book online, you normally have the right to cancel within 14 days of making a booking, without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. Please note:
• If you ask us to start a service within those 14 days (for example, to hold a lesson sooner), you can still cancel, but you must pay for what has already been provided up to the point you tell us.
• Once a service has been fully provided within the 14 days with your agreement, the cooling-off right no longer applies to that service.
To use this right, email lectiva.academy@outlook.com within 14 days. Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 or the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
