Lectiva’s Philosophy
Most students who struggle academically are not lacking ability. They are lacking the right approach.
Schools teach content. They move at the pace of the class, follow a fixed scheme of work, and measure success by whether students have covered the material. What they rarely teach is how to learn, how to revise effectively, or how to turn what you know into marks on the page. That gap is where most students fall short, and it is the gap Lectiva is built to close.
Lectiva is a coaching platform, not a teaching one. The difference matters. A coach does not deliver information and move on. A coach works with you on your specific weaknesses, challenges how you think, and holds you to a higher standard than you might hold yourself.
We focus on two things: how you revise and how you write. Both are skills. Both can be taught. And for most students, neither has ever been properly addressed.
Lectiva is for students at any level who are ready to stop leaving their results to chance and start taking ownership of them.
What We Cover
Lectiva currently offers coaching for History and Politics at GCSE and A-Level.
GCSE History is many students' first serious encounter with structured essay writing and source analysis. The skills required are building an argument, selecting relevant evidence, and reaching a supported conclusion. They are not instinctive, and most students are never explicitly shown how to do them well.
A-Level History is a different challenge altogether. Ranked by Oxford Royale as the third hardest A-Level overall, it sits behind only Mathematics and Further Mathematics, making it the hardest essay-based subject a student can take. It demands not just a command of content across multiple periods and topics, but the ability to construct fully analytical arguments, handle historiography, and make substantiated judgements under exam conditions.
The coaching approach is the same at both levels: identifying exactly where marks are being lost and fixing it.
About Me
I’m Sol. I achieved A* grades in both History GCSE and A-Level, and went on to earn a First Class degree in History from the University of Liverpool. I know the specifications from both sides: as a student who sat the exams, and as a tutor who has worked through them with students at every level.
But credentials only go so far. What I bring to every session is an understanding of what it actually feels like to be a GCSE or A-Level student. I know what it is like to juggle eight subjects at once. I know what it is like to get disappointing results at the end of Year 12. And I know how to turn that around.
My sessions are energetic, direct and focused entirely on you. Not on covering a scheme of work, not on moving at the pace of a class, but on identifying exactly what is holding your grade back and fixing it.
Lectiva is built on one belief: that most students are more capable than their results suggest. My job is to help you prove it.
